The race starts in France off Les Sables D'Olonne and ends in the same place after a circumnavigation of the Atlantic.

This year, thirty-three participants from the four corners of the globe are embarking on this sporting and human adventure. Among them is skipper Maxime Sorel, who set sail last Saturday for his first start. To accompany him on his race against the clock, RESERVOIR has equipped the 34-year-old from Saint Malo with the iconic Tiefenmesser Bronze.

Launched in 1989, this sailing race takes place every four years. The concept ? Sail around the world single-handed on an IMOCA 60-foot monohull yacht, without stopovers or assistance.

"In a few days, I'll be setting off on my first Vendée Globe. I have full confidence in my boat and in the work my technical team has done. I've had a great feeling with this boat from the start. It's very healthy and versatile in all points of sail. It's not the fastest boat in the fleet, but it has its qualities, and I'm convinced that it will enable me to complete this round-the-world race. I've done my utmost to perform with my novice's weapons around the world, and above all I want to share this extraordinary adventure with the public. I'm very proud to be on board RESERVOIR , which will set the pace for my non-stop, single-handed round-the-world voyage.

For the next few months, the Breton captain's only companion will be his 43 mm bronze timepiece. Inspired by the architecture of the submarine, this timepiece emerges from the abyss and is worn on a strap. bracelet NATO. Metal, pressure, tension... It rocks the double hand on the dial to create a look more akin to a barometer than a classic watch. Its triple complication is a true visual signature, giving RESERVOIR a privileged place on the watchmaking chessboard.

A retrograde minute retrograde, a jumping hour and an autonomous 37-hour power reserve hours, which we hope will escort our skipper to victory.

For the Vendée Globe, RESERVOIR has equipped Maxime Sorel with a watertight case containing 10 Tiefenmesser Bronze watches. These will be the subject of a future Maxime Sorel-stamped limited series, each of which will symbolize a major point on the crossing. Among them, Cape Horn or the Cape of Good Hope...
